Here is a glimpse of what was featured:

SNOHOMISH, Wash. — On a corner in historic downtown Snohomish, The Petal and The Stem is redefining traditional flower shops.

"We're an experience,” said owner Candice Szarzec. “Coming into our store is like walking into a world where you can on-site become creative."

Her small business is a full-service floral boutique. Customers can buy bouquets or book wedding florals, shop local handmade gifts and furniture, and learn how to create their own arrangements

First launched in nearby Mill Creek in 2008, The Petal and The Stem is an extension of Szarzec’s lifelong proclivity for design.

“I started at 13 years old on the big island of Hawaii. I would string leis and sell them in my little town of Kona,” she said. "And I've just never stopped."

She specializes in unique design, from arrangements made with citrus and artichokes to floral collars and crowns for four-legged wedding guests.

"We can do any type of floral on any kind of animal. We've done it for horses, all sorts of different things,” she laughed.

The boutique is also designed to help customers create works of living art, starting with a new self-guided plant bar. No reservations are necessary.

"So you can come in 7 days a week and play in the dirt with us,” Szarzec said. “You can also make a terrarium and send it out on our floral delivery route."

Once a month, the shop also hosts private workshops, lead by manager Corie Oliver. A longtime employee, she’s taught the floral arts for more than a quarter century.

"I have ladies that come every month, and they still learn something new,” Oliver said.

She breaks everything down in a step-by-step process, explaining the aesthetics and mechanics of engineering a beautiful arrangement. Both she and Szarzec insist, anyone can learn.

"It's a creative outlet,” Szarzec said.

Workshops happen the third Saturday of each month from 4 to 6 p.m. Tickets are $115 and include the florals, wine and charcuterie.

The Petal and The Stem also offers same-day local orders/delivery.

It’s located at 1234 1st Street in Snohomish and is open daily from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
